Year 10 Autumn Term:
Single lessons will follow a presentation style format and will focus primarily on Food safety and hygiene.
Practical lessons will run fortnightly.
December – Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Basic Food Hygiene Certificate formal examination. (This will replace internal year 10 mock)
Year 10 Spring Term:
In January students will prepare for their first assessed practical :
Assignment 1, this represents 15% of their final GCSE
End of January - Formal ‘plan the task’ booklet
End of March – Students will have completed a full ‘timed practical’, and have completed ‘Evaluate the task’ booklet.
Year 10 Summer Term:
Students will be given the choice of five topics and will complete an individual assessed portfolio which represents 25% of their final GCSE. This will be completed following task guidance material which will be provided by their teacher. The information for all five topics is available to all students via the school website.
July - Students will be expected to have completed the following topics during the summer term. Students who do not meet the end of term deadline will need to complete this during the summer holidays ready to be handed in before the end of the first week of term in year 11.
1. Front cover.
2. Introduction
3. Flow chart to represent ‘Plan of action’
4. Background research.
5. Data collection and representation in graph or table form.
Year 11 Autumn Term:
Feedback of performance and marks will be provided to students for the five areas listed above allowing opportunity for re-submission and improvement.
Mid September - Final submission date for the first five criteria.
End October – Final submission date for primary research
End of November - First submission of final project – these will be marked and individual feedback provided to show how improvements can be made allowing opportunities for re-submission and improvement.
2nd week in December - Final submission date for all coursework projects.
Year 11 Spring Term:
In January students will prepare for their second assessed practical : Assignment 2, this represents 20% of their final GCSE
End of January - Formal ‘Plan the task’ booklet
End of March – Students will have completed a full ‘Timed practical’, and have completed ‘Evaluate the task’ booklet.
Year 11 Summer Term:
Preparation for the two hour theory paper which will be taken in June. This represents 40% of the total marks. Students will be taught examination strategies and skills. Revision booklets will be given to each student.
