Performance School

This course is designed for students who wish to enter the professional world of performing arts.

Students will usually take performing Arts "A" level and one other chosen from the range of subjects offered in the sixth form.

In addition some students will then choose a further "A" level which need not be directly linked to performance. Others, however, will take a modular programme consisting of accredited courses in jazz, rock, vocal, instrumental, dance studies and music technology.

All pupils will gain work experience in a professional placement and be able to appreciate being a part of a touring company. They will also gain the opportunity to work with professional artistes.

Admission to the performance school will be by academic achievement and audition.

College performances are considered a crucial aspect of your experiences, and in each term you are encouraged to take part in extra-curricular productions as well as coursework presentations. Whilst the work can be intense, it is also highly rewarding. We constantly combine students’ performances with opportunities for them to see professional theatre across the UK.

Artists-in-Residence also form an integral part of our courses; you will collaborate with dancers, actors, poets, musicians, designers, multimedia artists and directors from all over the world. These artists from the industry, and the cutting-edge ideas they bring to Impington, are invaluable, and we are proud to welcome them throughout the academic year.

Whether your involvement in the arts is as part of a broad-based programme of study or you are dedicated to entering the tough world of arts and entertainment, you will be challenged to fulfil your potential at Impington.
