Lunchtime UK

Cash Free Catering

Dear Parent

From 6th March 2006, the College has been operating a Cash Free catering service. This will dramatically speed up payment for food, reduce queuing and therefore increase the time children have to enjoy their breaks. Please note that the 6th Form canteen will still accept cash for now.

What Happens Now?

We need to set up an account for your child.

We would like you to assess how much your child is likely to spend during the second half of term on breakfast, break and lunch, and send a cheque for this amount to the school. Cheques must be made payable to Cambridgeshire County Council.

Your child will be able to check the balance of the account from ‘readers’ around the College. When your child’s account balance falls below one week’s credit you should send in your next cheque. Please allow 24 hours from when we receive your cheque for the account to be credited.

Free School Meals

Children who are entitled to Free School Meals will automatically have £1.90 (£1.70 from County Council and 20p contributed by Lunchtime UK) added to their daily account. Parents who wish to add to this amount can send cheques to the College. The Free School Meal allowance ‘purse’ will be used up before the personal ‘top-up’ purse is used; thereby full entitlement is always received.

Topping up accounts with cash

The College has installed two Value Load Terminals for cash to be added to your child’s account. They accept all denominations from 10p to £20 notes. These are designed to provide emergency top-up.

Daily Spend Limit

A default daily spend limit of £5.00 will be set to each account. If you wish to raise or lower this limit, please state your preferred limit on the enclosed form.

Would you like to know exactly what your child is eating?

From September, half termly audit reports will be available via email, (with your child’s permission), setting out precisely what your child is eating on a daily basis.

Healthy Eating Points – Prizes for your children

Again, from September points will be awarded to children who choose the healthiest options available from the cafes. Points will be redeemable from a junior (totally safe) Ebay style site – online. Prizes can be as simple as ring tones for your mobile or for the keener participants, an Xbox or Ipod.
